Rain, wind and fireworks but what a wedding!

Dundas Castle proved yet again that their weddings are fantastic, well run events regardless of the rainy weather. Thanks to Ben from Dundas Castle for all his help on the day he really helped the day go without a hitch. 

It was great to meet up with Billy from Graham Video in Edinburgh who must know Dundas at least as well as I do – Philip and Louise I saw a sneak preview of your wedding video on Billy’s edit suite and its looking very impressive! Piper Roddy Dean is another Dundas regular – great tunes and a great voice. 

Philip and Louise had organised two specials treat for their guests in the form a cleverly choreographed first dance and an amazing firework display, certainly a wedding we will remember for a long time.

The Sun was shining it felt like summer and we were on top of Calton Hill, Edinburgh avoiding tourists.

Despite suffering from a cold and hating the thought of having her portraits taken Louise soldiered on and you certainly couldn’t tell from these images how she felt. We weren’t alone on Claton Hill there were also 40 -50 tourists also enjoying the views and good weather, but I have Photoshopped them out so it’s just Louise and Philip on their own on Calton Hill.

We were across in the Outer Hebrides and  after a disappointing start in Harris the weather was very much in our favour.

These are just a few of my landscapes from the islands of South Uist and Vatersay. The waves were shot on
Luskentyre Beach in Harris during a very short break in the weather. To capture the waves like this I used a slow shutter speed of 1/10 second, just slow enough to capture the breaking wave but fast enough to keep some detail in the water. I have a few more to process from this trip and I will put these on line soon.

who got married at Dundas Castle on the 25^th March. I think they have to take the award for being one of our most chilled out couples.

Dundas weddings are always special and very well run and Nick and Hannah made this a very relaxed occasion. Jo did a fantastic job doubling up as Hannah’s bridesmaid and also as Nick’s bestman as she was such a close friend of both. Here are some of our favourite images from the day. We have now completed their wedding album and this will be off to print in the next couple of days.

Kael is one of the youngest babies we have had in the studio recently for a baby portrait and he took it all in his stride.

Nicole, Gordon and Margaret it was great fun having you in the studio and I think Kael enjoyed all that extra attention. This is just a little sneak preview for you and we have another 50+ images to go online in the Online Viewing area in the beginning of the week. For the photographers most of the shoot was done using the 39 megapixel Hasselblad HD3.

When we first arrived in Boat of  Garten we found the grooms party clearing snow from the path to the church.

After the ceremony Karen and David with their guests were piped from the church to the Boat Hotel where the fires were already lit and the drinks were poured.

The snow just adds that magic touch to the photographs Karen and  David just couldn’t resist the temptation to have some photographs taken on the platform of the old station there, it was like the set for some romantic 1930′s film.

We were soon joined by the grooms party and an impromptu snowball fight started.

Thankfully The Boat Hotel has open fires and a warm welcome so we very quickly warmed up and a memorable day was had by all.

Currently the Portfolios section is split into three sections, “Wedding”,  “Portrait” and “Venues” and we will we  soon  be adding a “Scottish Landscape Photography” gallery along with a “Commercial Photography gallery”.

The wedding and portrait galleries show a mix of different styles of photography from studio and location portraiture to reportage and classic styles of wedding photography and I will be changing and adding to these as we go along.

The venues section is arranged alphabetically with images to show how we use each venue and we hope that this will assist  you if you are still looking for a wedding venue and also  if you have have already booked a venue this will give you a little inspiration for your own wedding. We have around 70 different wedding venues to place in this section and will be gradually adding these in the coming weeks. Some of the venues, for example  the Atholl Palace, Dunkeld House, Dundas Castle and Kenmore Hotel will show actual wedding album pages from previous weddings using the images chosen for inclusion by our couple to tell the story of their day.

The information section will give you a bit of an insight into my background and philosophy along with answering some of our most  frequently asked questions and also some extra information on what is included with our wedding packages.

The Online Viewing section  allows you to view images from some of our most recent weddings.  A shopping cart is available for the purchase of images and on line secure paypal payment facility is also available there.

You will also find final wedding album previews and other events there too.  Some of the galleries within the online viewing section are password protected at our clients request while others are open galleries and don’t require a Password.

In the “Presentation” section you will find examples of  some of our portraiture products along with wedding album cover choices and  also 3 album demos to show the difference between the 3 album styles we offer as standard.

Every year we get lots of thank you cards and kind emails from our past clients to boost our egos and put smiles upon our faces so we have decided to share their comments with you in our “Kind Words” section.

So that’s it, welcome to our new website!  It’s my intention to regularly update this page to share our thoughts and to give you a peek at some of our recent happenings. You will find all our comments are genuine, heartfelt and we hope informative and even useful.
